About Critical Consciousness

The purpose of this blog is twofold.

First, it serves as a space for me to write and expand on ideas. I have a fascination with reading social science nonfiction and this hobby provokes plentiful thoughts. With my desire to attend graduate school in sociology , I feel that I should take the knowledge I gain through reading and create a record of the thoughts that are produced.

Second, it serves as a forum to open dialogue through meta-critique of social science books, articles and studies, as well as everyday society. Creating open spaces where people can discuss ideas is important because it contributes to intellectual expansion; alternative pedagogical techniques can lead individuals into a critical consciousness, and this blog is meant to act in that capacity.
